Mountain House™ freeze-dried foods are second to none in terms of quality and taste. Freeze-Dried foods offer many advantages over dehydrated foods. To Begin with, they taste much better because through the freeze-drying process the foods retain their taste, texture, and shape of fresh frozen foods. In addition, freeze-drying locks in the freshness, vitamins, nutrients, color, and aroma of fresh frozen foods while providing the shelf-stable convenience of canned and dehydrated foods.

All the contents of a Mountain House pouch are freeze dried to allow for a shelf life of up to 30-years. Mountain House has also taste tested the pouches and at 25 years after the manufacture date and they still had the same great taste as the day it was freeze dried.

Wife was away, what to make? Great time for a taste test. After adding boiling water I waited about 12 minutes to make sure everything was nicely reconstituted. Yup, just right, plenty of beans and chunks of chicken. I look forward to having it again in a taste test and not in an emergency. I'm sure the double portion would be too much for my wife, it was just the right amount for me. Way to go Mountain House and The Ready Store.

This is pretty good, not as much as the others, but I find that a lot of the pouches taste good.

The regular chicken and rice is cheaper and it's not loaded with spices. I would go with that one if I were you.
