Mountain House™ freeze-dried foods are second to maybe only Saratoga Farms in terms of quality and taste. Freeze-Dried foods offer many advantages over dehydrated foods. To Begin with they taste much better because through the freeze-drying process the foods retain their taste, texture, and shape of fresh frozen foods. In addition, freeze-drying locks in the freshness, vitamins, nutrients, color, and aroma of fresh frozen foods while providing the shelf-stable convenience of canned and dehydrated foods.

All the contents of a Mountain House pouch are freeze dried to allow for a 10 year shelf life. Mountain House has also tested the pouches 30 years after the manufacture date and they were still good to eat and safe.

I have crunched on these before even without adding water to them. They are a neat snack and you can even mix them into a dry trail mix when hiking.

I like the fact that the Mountain House pouch contains nothing but peas and salt, with no additives or preservatives. The peas reconstitute perfectly; have a pleasing texture that is less mushy than canned peas; and have just enough salt to make a nice side dish without any additional seasoning. Peas are also a good way to add color and taste when stretching entrees. I actually keep a tub of mixed freeze-dried peas and corn on hand for this purpose.

Just like frozen peas

These are good as a healthy snack, not big enough for a meal, and I wouldn't want to go through making to pouches to have like a big dinner with sides. These taste just like if you had a bag of frozen peas.

Delicious. One of the first "samples" I tried. Too expensive in this size but it convinced me the products are good quality and taste good. I am now buying lots of items.
