This unit has been cleaning water for everyday drinking(with additional flouride/ptfe filters attached)for over two years now. These units filter out food coloring which is almost impossible and impractical for all others. The water is clean and after a short bit of drinking it, the high quality aquifer water which my city provides no longer taste indigestible. We can smell chlorine and other toxins in the water. The few times I have had to drink unfiltered water I begin to crave the clean water from home. Do some research, you will find that this unit will filter all contaminants to an UNDETECTABLE level, it is used in foreign countries to filter out polluted waters and the like. This unit can easily and quickly be disassembled(a few pieces) with the top turning upside down and placed into the bottom. It comes stored this way in the beginning.
The price for this filter cannot be beat. Other may be cheaper initially yet will soon trump the cost of this unit. Each filter has an average of one gallon per day and will last for ten years(I may be off on specifics but did the math a couple of years ago an know that at our consumption, my two filters will last my family FIVE YEARS). These will clean ANY water out there and the studies are out there to prove this. There is a possibility that certain radiological contaminants can be captured with the fluoride filters(Fukishima fallout:West Coast U.S.)
Some will worry about de-mineralization with these. I am not sure of this however the most practical way around is a tiny pinch of sea salt. That will provide everything you need without the expense of additional re-mineralization filers.
The black filters are impregnated with silver which assist in the destruction of all virus, protozoa and bacteria. An old trick of cowboys was to drop a silver dollar in a barrel of water and let it sit for a day or so in order to clean it of living contaminants, even some in-organic compounds which are ionized by silver and broken down.
I had both filter fail on me after a year. The company needed a copy of my invoice which I printed off the website. I sent the broken filters back and they replaced them. Initially I was deterred by this until the distributor I spoke with advised me that they had a bad batch while trying to keep up demand and assure me they would replace them. They did so promptly and these filters have lasted over a year without fail. I am buying another for storage, a few more filters and would use nothing less for my family, myself or even my dogs.
This review is completely bias due to my experience with the product and I am elated with it.
