I just returned from a four day backpacking trip in the high Uintas. The Katadyn Hiker Pro worked perfectly. The quick connects for a hydration bladder are also a wonderful addition. You don't even need to take your pack off your back to pump it full of water. Can't wait to get back out so that I can use it some more.

I have used this on countless backpacking trips. Easy to pump, fills containers quickly, water tastes great. It comes in a bag that holds everything. I recommend keeping your inlet hose in a ziplock bag to avoid contamination of the outlet hose. Also, pump it dry after filling. I haven't had this fail on me yet, seems to have a sturdy build. I do keep a few water purifying tablets in the bag just in case.

I think that the vario system is a bit better than this one and if this one is in your price range then so is the Vario. It works better/faster.
