Because phones are such a common item, we don’t often think that our phone could save our life! There are many precious items that Bear Grylls would never abandon if he had a phone in the wild.     throw away the phone and carry a knife, water-proof matches and a polished dog tag with a hole drilled in the center for signaling. I do at all times because trouble will find you when you least expect it.

    To granny, that is assuming you want to be found, also most phones need to be in range of a cell tower to be located and this is assuming you are not. These are good ideas. And I am sure the plastic case could contribute something…

    Yes they can locate you by pinging your phone off towers. Hopefully near three makes more accurate position. However this about broken dead or out of range. Does battery fire starter work with a dead/broken/wet battery? Plus I think their is an app that turns your iPhone into a helicopter. But seriously you can buy a stun gun case for your iPhone . Any outdoors person has basic tools. This is plan b
