Think "Ritz Cracker"...
10 of 13 people found this review helpfulI had no idea what to expect with these so after buying a case (6x #10 cans) I decided to crack one can open to see what I thought. We love em! It essentially 2 to 3 times the size of a ritz cracker, looks like one, and tastes very similar as well. It's light, crispy, and not overly hard.. which is what I had expected. I'd highly recommend for use with your emergency stash of peanut butter, and they're great for making little sandwiches as well (ham, turkey, cheese, etc). I highly recommend!

Good as a snack, or with soup.
0 of 2 people found this review helpfulI had added these crackers a while ago to my pantry. I plan to serve them with jam or alongside soups and stews. Baked bread may be difficult to prepare in emergency situations - especially if we're on the go.

Great Concept - Needs Better Shipping
6 of 7 people found this review helpfulI just bought 8 of these cans, because who wants to bake if it becomes bad out there. Will be busy doing other things. However, I noticed in moving them to put on shelves it sounded as if there was a lot of breakage in there, sounded like bread crumbs. I think in the future it should say fragile on the box and packaged a little better in the box. I am tempted to open one to see how bad it is. But I still like the idea of 20-30 years.
From The Ready Store:
Susan, we tested shipping cans all around the country when we started selling this product and we noticed that there was going to be some breakage so what we did it is communicate that 70 crackers come in a can but we put in 74 that way if a few get broken up you should still get 70 unbroken crackers. Of course the broken ones still taste delicious! Hope this helps.

Great Taste/Condition Okay
1 of 1 people found this review helpfulThese taste very good. Got some cans last month on sale, great price. When opening box, heard one of the pilot crackers rattling. Hmm, must have some broken ones. Opened up, out of 70 crackers, 56 were complete (100% intact), 8 partials (75% cracker remaining), the balance were 25% of cracker or crumbs. Other cans sound fine when handling, just one had issues. Will be buying more!
From The Ready Store:
WallE, we typically put 72 in each can due to possible breakage. I think you will find that even the very few that might get broken from an overly aggressive FedEx driver are just as tasty as the rest :-)
Thanks,

Better than Expected.

They will go great with the SF Soups, but are good to eat on their own.11/18/12

these are great
excellent addition to any pantry. These can help make canned foods palatable. I keep an extra can around for regular use. I take them backpacking as an addition to foil packets of tuna. They're a great addition to any kit.

Need something new?
30 years shelf life sounds great to me. I think it would be a good idea to have something a little different when it comes to food storage. After reading some of the reviews, these crackers sound interesting.

Needs packaging improvements
The product itself is great....Love the taste and texture. It is a great addition to our storage. HOWEVER, your packaging greatly needs improvement! Of the 70+ or so crackers in my can, only 58 were in one piece. The rest arrived in crumbles. While there is corrugated paper on the inside around the perimeter of the can, there is none to support the individual stacks of crackers. Thus, the huge breakage. All commercially packaged tins of cookies use corrugated dividers to protect their cookie stacks. Please consider using this system to improve your packaging. While it is appreciated that you put extra crackers in each can in case of breakage, in my case, including those extra crackers, my breakage was at about 20% of the contents. MUCH to high! I would have to know you've made changes before I could recommend or order again. ...Thanks for giving the chance to provide feedback. I otherwise love your products!

Saratoga Farms Pilot Crackers are just right
Being from New England, I grew up with pilot crackers. You can't even make proper clam chowder without them. For several years, I had not been able to find them, even in New England. Now I can have them any time I want them, and my husband has become an enthusiastic fan. Saratoga Farms makes a product that is light, tasty, hearty, and true to a centuries old tradition. Kudos!

Great addition
1 of 1 people found this review helpfulI just started adding food items to my readiness supplies and bought a few cans while they were on sale. I opened up one of the cans and have to say that breakage was minimal and the taste and quality is very good and better than I expected. I've been enjoying eating them with peanut butter for breakfast on days when I'm too busy to cook. Highly recommend as a simple addition to your food supplies.

We enjoy eating them .
18 of 32 people found this review helpfulWe eat a can of them and then list them for our next purchase. We like them with soup and especially with cheeseballs. They are convenient to use as a bread substitue too.

Great with Chowder
Did anyone else grow up with Crown Pilot Crackers? My grandmother’s Maine family clam chowder recipe (and everyone else’s from those parts) required them, and I was heartbroken when Nabisco stopped producing them. Just rediscovered them made by Saratoga Farms on your site and immediately ordered them. My husband John had never had them but instantly bonded. Yummmmmmm.

Great product
19 of 37 people found this review helpfulThis is a great product for convenience and for emergencies. When I was young my grandfather would eat pilot bread crackers plain, with peanut butter, with jam or apple butter. He would always fix one for me. We would see who could make the loudest crunching noise and laugh at each other. These are very good and take me back to my childhood. They are packaged well and came to me without any damage. I'm glad I found these and will continue to buy. I like to keep a can open and keep a few cans for emergencies. Thanks for carrying these!

Good
19 of 35 people found this review helpfulPretty good. I used as a substitute for bread but for the price it doesn't last long. So its partly my fault and partly because the #10 can just doesn't contain very many. For an emergency survival situation, it will store for a lot of years and still be good and that is what this is all about.
From The Ready Store,
The can is packed all the way to the top and is filled with at least 70 crackers, more often than not 72-74 fit in the can but we estimate it conservatively so people are not upset if they end up with only 70.
Thanks,
