Bar none this is the Best of the best pound cake! Will put a smile on any kids face. Great for camping or the big one.
Tried this wonderful pound cake wished I had another piece. it was light and tasted great hard to believe it was 3 years old! I will be buying more.
Best pound cake!
After opening up one of these just to try, it was so good I had to open up a second one for a friend to try. These go great as a snack with some milk. Highly recommend for any 72 hour kit, camping or just to have around as a snack for a kit or adult.
I got these a few weeks ago, but caved in and had to give it a taste. These are delicious. The flavor is great. I will definitely be buying more of these.
These pound cakes will keep you going and they taste great.
This has a very pleasant lemon flavor. I love it.
very good will be ordering more!
These look like something I would want to take with me to the big park in our area for hiking. The price is really good too!
Great for Breakfast!
I've been trying to focus some recent storage items toward breakfast items because it seems that most of my stored food is lunch/dinner oriented.
These taste great and I picked up quite a few to have an MRE-ish breakfast item. Breakfast is important, don't forget about it during your planning!
handy delicious snack
This lemon poppy seed cake is delicious. It might appear that the relatively low calorie count on MRE products is a weakness, but as a fitness centered individual I like how I can eat these during a regular week and not worry that I just destroyed my diet. The price is nice as well, stopping by a local coffee shop I would spend at least $3 for a 900 calorie muffin, this is just as convenient, healthy, and similar in price.
I loved these! My wife did not care for them, but she is not a fan of lemon flavor.
The quality of these products can often be very surprising. Thereadystore gets it right again.
These are good, like any other pound cake. The only drawback is that they are pretty dense and make you thirsty.
These are my absolute favorite
I just got my hands on a bunch of MRE snack stuff and these were one of my favorites. Good weight to calorie ratio and they tasted fantastic (for cake in a bag anyway)
Hot dog, these MRE lemon poppyseed cakes are TASTY. Not "pretty okay for an MRE that will stay good for 5-7 years", but actually tasty. I was looking for some dessert items to add treats to long-term food storage. Freeze dried ice cream wasn't doing it for me, neither were the desserts like crumbles, cheesecake and pudding that you reconstitute with hot water. While poking around a website, I stumbled upon a link for MRE desserts, and voila! Desserts that will stay fresh for a long time, and still taste good.
So, about the product ... it is a decent-sized block of cake, enclosed in a relatively heavy MRE pouch with most of the air vacuumed out and an oxygen absorber. The production date is prominently stamped on the back, like "3251" (i.e., the 251st day of 2013. The packaging can take a fair amount of abuse without reducing the cake to a crumbly mess. I haphazardly toss the MREs in a 4 gallon bucket, but upon opening the pack, there are only a few crumbs at the bottom.
The cake is not as moist or fluffy as what you can buy fresh from a coffee shop (which is no surprise, since it is designed for compact storage and a long shelf life), but it is by no means dry or chalky. To the contrary, it has a zesty lemon taste that is more intense towards the outer layer, and poppy seeds uniformly distributed throughout the cake. The lemon poppyseed cakes are tasty enough that I have to hide them from myself to avoid raiding the stash.
I was very shocked to see that the lemon poppy seed pound cake was this good
My husband and I both tasted it.. Very good almost as good as the store bought pound caked
Will buy more very very very happy
