"I almost did not buy this item after reading previous reviews noting the poor assortment of meals not to mention just not knowing what we'd get; as the mother of kids that was a real concern. I just received my shipment and was very happy with the assortment of meals received: BBQ Sauce w/ Chicken black beans & potatoes, White chicken w rice & veg, veggie lasagna, chili & mac, beef stew & spaghetti w meat sauce. Although we bought this as emergency food and hope to never need to use it I feel so much better knowing that it is food my family will happily eat. You never know, maybe we'll try them just for the heck of it. Thanks, A Dewees of Portland, Oregon"

"This distributor needs to state what will be shipped. It matters. I am looking for 6 months provisions for a family of 6. I will not buy under these vague terms of what will be delivered.

From The Ready Store:

Paul, I am sorry there isn't currently a better way. Our suppliers tell us what products they are producing and ship us a variety of those items. In an effort to produce the product at the best price possible and provide fresh product they have found that this is the best way to do it. While it does not give the customer the ability to chose the exact meals they want it provides them with a great solution at an affordable price with a very good shelf life.

As for being deceptive I would have to disagree, we specifically state that a variety will be sent out and then list the items that could possibly be sent out.

"I had never had MREs before but I was told these are awesome for emergency preparedness. The pouch was easy to open and I decided to eat it many style right out of the pouch, cold. Eating it cold was not a good idea. Kind of gross that way. Then I squirted it out onto a plate and warmed it up in the micro and it was way better. Kind of like any prepared canned food you would eat except it supposed to last a lot longer."

"I remember these from my military days and they are still the same! You do have to be careful because some places sell MREs that are old and have been stuffed in somebody's attic somewhere. These were fresh and the case had a good variety. Never thought I would buy MREs, but with the way things are in the world, I just thought they would be good to have around."
