I just bought a pile of these things!
341 of 666 people found this review helpfulI am pretty sure that we are in for some rough time ahead. And I am not interested in mixing water into anything, so I bought a bunch of these cases of military rations. I have had them before so I know how they taste and they are not bad for what they are for. I was totally happy though with how the Ready Store treated me and sent me them super fast.

Recommend for moderate duration shelf life
348 of 700 people found this review helpfulHey! I bought two cases for something between canned goods and freeze dried shelf-life food. I am a CERT. Community Health Worker in E. Texas. I used a couple as part of a demo along with Mountain House freeze dried cans for long term storage goods useful for disaster prep. People liked them both. What would be helpful is the decoder for date of manufacture with every shipment so people know what shelf life they have.
*from The Ready Store: Mario thanks for the review, as for decoder we have a shelf life calculator if you head to our meals ready to eat page and look down on the left column. Hope that helps!10/7/10

Liked them, very happy

Great, Convenient, and my kids like them!
211 of 409 people found this review helpfulWe bought these mostly to use in case we had to evacuate and bring food with us, but it turns out we use them for so much more than that. One night a typical afternoon storm knocked out power but it was no problem, we didn't have to eat cold/room temp food and I didn't have to figure out a way to grill in the middle of a thunder storm I just pulled out a few packs and a candle and presto we had a hot candle light dinner. We also always throw a few of these into our camping supplies before a trip they are small enough and light enough to be a great addition to our camp supplies. I have also stuck some in the car before long road trips so if you see the family at the picnic area of the interstate rest stops eating them you'll know its me LOL. The meals are packaged well and have always worked properly for me. They contain everything you need and they taste fine. My kids ate them without compliant and really that is the ultimate test. I persoanlly thought the meal was a touch bland, but I prefer my food with kick typically so any percieved blandness is proabbly just me. They do come with a pepper pack and for most people that would probably be sufficient. I added a few spices and thought they tasted fine after that. For future use I put a jar of spices into the box with the meals so I won't have to "suffer" through an emergency with bland food My husband did tease me about my emergency seasoning supply but it was only in good fun. The bottom line is they really taste fine, even my kids ate them. They come with everything you need and they are lightweight and durable.

Great improvement

Great for Emergency Kit
143 of 270 people found this review helpfulThese complete meals are great for emergency supplies. There is plenty in each meal packet, you do not need 3 of these a day! There is plenty to have breakfast and lunch from 1 package, another for dinner and late night snack. Not having to prepare anything (or clean anything up) during an emergency is a definite plus. Taste is good, much better than the thought of surviving 72 hrs on emergency bars.

Great addition to your Emergency Preparedness supplies
76 of 146 people found this review helpfulI believe these full meal packages are a great addition to anyone's EP supply list and a complimentary change when used with freeze dried foods and ration/calorie bars to provide a variety during extended usage.
I will need to spread purchases of the cases to see if there is more selection of meals based on purchase date, two meals each of a variety of 6 meals is nice so two people can have the same meal together, but a larger variety would be even better for extended periods.2/23/12

Overall Great Product!
65 of 133 people found this review helpfulThese MRE's are packed with everything you'll need for that outdoor adventure you've got coming up. Convenient, and tasty alternative when the hunt yields no spoils. I only had one MAIN issue - I only received ELEVEN of these tasty bad-boys in this supposed order of 12.
From The Ready Store,
Alex, contact our customer service team so we could look into this. By the way did the box come opened? Or was it sealed and you still were 1 short? It would be surprising if that was the case since we have never had that issue before and we have sold these for years.
Thanks,

Worth It
45 of 87 people found this review helpfulI bought these for my families 72hour kits and also for our ad hoc hiking trips. Each meal includes its own self-heater AND a small amount of water for the heater. The variety is good with six different options included and from what I've had so far they are pretty tasty. The price is right on target for a case like this. I plan to order more of these in the future.

Easy rationing of full meals
21 of 40 people found this review helpfulI like the Full Meal as it is all inclusive, even more when I had a packet of instant coffee... and these are easy to just throw into my pack knowing I have a well rounded meal and snack on day hikes or camping. Unless I go into the case and remove all the packaging, it is slightly heavier than the non-streamlined self modifications. There are two meals for each assortment, so if you are 'a couple' you can both share the same meal; I would rather see a wider variety of 12 meals as compared to 2x6 meals.

great meals
9 of 16 people found this review helpfulWe bought these for our bug out bags. I didn't want to waste any to try them, so it was months before I got to try one. Driving over a mountain pass I got stuck between two avalanches for 8 hours (luckily not under one). I was so grateful for the meals. One meal turned out to be enough for a dinner meal and a breakfast meal. For me I was full after the entree, fruit drink and dessert. The cracker, shake and peanut butter was breakfast. Other motorists were pretty hungry before the traffic started moving again. (PS I will be adding a fresh unread novel to the bug out bag!!!!!!)

cheap bulk price!
6 of 10 people found this review helpfulAt around $8 a meal this is a great deal. These mre's come with much more food than others. I like how you guys say exactly what you will get in a case. Getting two of everything is nice so that if you are with another person you can eat together, more like an actual meal you would cook. Also, other companies say that you will get a variety, when really you get 9 of the same thing! Not here!

Teens Loved Them
5 of 7 people found this review helpfulI actually bought these for a library program that I did today for teens on the science behind MREs. They loved the meals! One of the teens remarked that this was my best program ever (and I've been doing this for 7 years!). I told them to check out The Ready Store for great deals and when I logged on, I was happy to see these on sale. I didn't get a chance to sample them because me teens ate them all. I guess I'll have to order some for myself now.

Great Backup For Meals
7 of 8 people found this review helpfulI got this case of meals as a bad weather meal backup. Curiosity got the better of me, so I had to give one of the meals a try. I had the Southwestern Style Chicken with Rice and Beans. Very tasty. I could not believe how filling these complete MREs are. I look forward to trying the rest of the styles that came in this box, unfortunately I am going to wait for bad weather to arise, maybe.

4 of 5 people found this review helpfulNot only for emergency preparedness ,we will take them snowboarding as most resorts we go to are over crowded over-priced and horrible food.. We can sit atop the mountain and have a hot lunch with no lines....and enjoy the view!!! We tried southwest chicken and black bean and it was great! Very filling perfect for sports, work lunch on the go!

perfect niche addition
2 of 3 people found this review helpfulWe just got these in the mail and they are what I call the niche addition. Perfect for not having to pop open a #10 can, for maybe a short power outage of 1-4 days. They dont lst more than 3.5 years in our 70 degree house, so we will most likely use them camping or like previously stated above.

excellent choice to have on hand
0 of 1 people found this review helpfulBeing prior military, I knew what to expect when I sat my family down to sample what I though would be necessary, very educational and bad tasting. My wife and kids were surprised and liked the flavor. However I was astonished with how good these MRE's actually tasted compared to what they tasted like years ago. I also put 2 meals in to one heater and even though I had to keep one in longer, the heater worked for both meals. I'm not going to trust all my food storage to MRE's when there is freeze dried out there. But I will keep 4 or more cases on hand at all time in my house and some in my vehicles. The connivance of have the meal ready and not needing the additional water to hydrate is very important to me.

Much better than expected!
1 of 1 people found this review helpfulI bought these for our emergency bug-out packs. As others have stated, some meals have enough food for breakfast and dinner. That is a great plus. We were lucky to receive 8 different variants as others have reported 4 or 6. I was also surprised with taste. These are not bad at all. We are beginners with our preparedness plan, but we will have a balance between MREs, Pouches, and Cans.

Perfect for Bug Out Bag
I store MRE entrees and sides on my shelves because I have the storage space. In a BoB, however, you need to conserve space, yet keep your calorie count up. MRE entrees are around 200-300 calories, but these entire meals are close to 1,200 to 1,500 calories a piece. These are a little pricey, so I only use them in my BoB, and they are perfect for that!

No need for additional fiber
131 of 260 people found this review helpfulI read somewhere that you should have additional fiber supplements (Metamucil) on hand if you plan on eat these over an extended period of time; that they were designed to make you "move" less than normal. Believe me, these meals have enough fiber in them. No need for supplement. I ate these meals over a weekend and there is more than enough fiber to keep you "moving." All the meals I received had >30% of your daily fiber - in the complete package.
The meals also taste great!10/16/11

Good product, can come in handy.
115 of 229 people found this review helpfulPrice is about average for a case of 12 MREs. Quality of food is much better than other MREs I've had in the past. It's not 5 star dining, but when the power is out or you're stuck in a blizzard, these small packs can come in handy.

Very Good !!
67 of 130 people found this review helpfulI just had to try 1 of these ready meals when I got them and found it very good and I am a picky eater . I also found use for the heat bag after my meal was done , I have back problems and found by rapping it in a towel it lasted a long time to ease my lower back pain . It would also work good on cold nights for hands and feet to stay toasty warm for a hour longer . I know it says discard after use but I will make sure I get all the use out of it before I discard it . Also wish to know if this can be burned in a fire to dispose of ? Daryl
From The Ready Store:
Daryl, you can burn them but since there are plastics you will want to make sure you are in a well ventilated area so you don't breath in fumes.
Thanks,

Works for Zombie Apocalypse
65 of 120 people found this review helpfulI purchased these for my family's bug out bag. After loading them up we had several left over. There are 6 of us including 4 kids ages 10 through 15. Wanting to try them out, I suggested one night that we pretend there was a zombie apocalypse and use some of the extras for our meal. We had the curtains closed, of course, and ate by candlelight. The 3 meals fed the six of us, and everyone had a full belly. It tasted great and the kids enjoyed it. They keep pestering me to use up the last 3 meals. And, yes, we were attacked by a lone zombie. My wife decided to sneak out the garage and bang on the front door.

Works in a pinch
I've had MRE's from all the different manufacturers, the different menus, entrees, sides, etc. A Pack meals are tasty and will fill you up if you eat the entire contents. They work in a pinch if you need a quick easy to prepare meal. You get needed calories and carbs to keep you going. Don't expect gourmet dinner like you would get in a restaurant. You can expect what you need to satisfy your hunger. I keep a variety of MRE's, freeze dried, dehydrated and canned goods for my food storage cache. It's a good idea to have variety if you are going to sustain on emergency food in an unexpected disaster, etc. Good luck with your food storage and God Bless America.

Definate plus for your 72-hour kit or camping supplies!
343 of 666 people found this review helpfulWe bought these to add to our 72-hour kit. The emergency bars are fine, but I don't see us lasting comfortably on those for 3 days. NOT ORGANIC
226 of 448 people found this review helpfulThese ingredients are definitely NOT ORGANIC.
From The Ready Store:
The manufacturer was claiming this up through at least mid summer of 2010 (if not later) as that was the last time we investigated it. We were somewhat surprised when we heard this claim because they didn't always state this. When we talked to them at that time they said they were changing their ingredient sourcing to only come from organic suppliers. They communicated it on their website so we decided to relay the information on our product page. After getting this review this morning we decided to revisit their site so we could respond to your comment with a link and sure enough we could no longer find the claim on their site. We contacted our rep and as of 5 minutes ago we heard that they are no longer making that claim. As a result we just took that verbiage off of the page.
Thanks for leaving the note as it led us to re-investigate it which in turn led to a change that needed to be made on the product page.4/26/11

Keep some of these on hand!
57 of 111 people found this review helpfulThe MREs are light and portable and do not require any other supplies to heat and eat. The ones we have tried tasted good, and I like the side dishes/snacks that can be eaten later. We keep some MREs in both cars (in case we are ever stranded) and with our tornado gear. We also keep a few cases at our cabin b/c of frequent power outages and roads impassable in snow.

They have come a long way.
215 of 416 people found this review helpfulI was in the Army in the mid 80's when Meals Ready to Eat started replacing the remaining C-rations and those 1st generation military ration's were far from...edible (if anyone remembers the dehydrated pork and beef patty and the beans & weenies that came with the "Do not fly after eating" warning").
I got out in the late 90's and they had improved vastly by then. I just received my shipment of the 72 Entree and a case of 12 full meals and tried the Veggie Burger in BBQ sauce. The flavor was pretty good and after comparing the ingredients to those of a loaf of commercial white bread, we found it to have fewer preservatives and chemical additives.
So far for what I have tried...very satisfied with the quality of my order.6/7/11

to spice it up
0 of 1 people found this review helpfulTo those of you that think it isn't spicey enough. You can purchase 1/8 fluid ounces of tabasco sauce. The bottle is smaller and narrower than a finger. A great addition to add a few of the tiny bottles in your BOB. I just purchased 40 of these little guys to split amongst the family. They are not only good for this item but others as well.

You can't beat the convenience
I was first introduced to MREs when I was in the military, stationed in Germany, back in the mid to late 80s. We had been using the old K-Rations and, other than the fact that it meant no more P38 can openers, we really thought these were a huge improvement.
They’ve only gotten better over the years.
Back then they weren’t self heating.
Now you really do have EVERYTHING you need to enjoy a hot meal on the go.5/6/13

dissapointed
450 of 798 people found this review helpfulAbout two months ago, my family was planning on going on our annual trip to the boundary waters, so we located the two boxes (of twelve) of Military Rations. However, when we opened the boxes, 18 of the meals ready to eat had been infiltrated by flying ants. I then called your company to complain about the loss of $140 worth of meals and I was told that I could purchase more at a reduced price. I had really no choice because my second trip to the BWCA/Canada was soon after the first. Also, two of the meals did not heat up properly on this last trip. Back when I used the Armed Services rations, no ants would have perforated the encasement. Overall, I was dissatisfied and was hoping for replacements, not paying more money for what I should have had in the first place. I have not quit on your company, but I am disappointed. Thank you for your time and patience.
Sincerely,
Eric Aurelius

Flaw in system
224 of 425 people found this review helpfulI just received my self-heating meals ready to eat. I looked all over the sealed package for an expiratin date and there is not one. I called and was told that I have to break open my waterproof package to get a code off each individual item. Then I have to look up the codes for the expiration date. What a terrible system. Now I have food that either a) I don't know what the expiration date is or b) is not sealed in a waterproof package. What a horrible system.
From The Ready Store:
The Meals-Ready-to-Eat manufacturers use an abbreviated Julian Code system to communicate the manufacture date, they do not put expiration dates on them as it depends on the storage conditions. Also since each individual item is not manufactured on the same date they need to put the manufacturer date on each item which does require you to open the outer pouch to see these dates.5/31/11

Not Military
225 of 463 people found this review helpfulYou are promoting a false product. You advertise as "Military MRE's". This is false advertising as military MRE's are not legal to resell. So are you breaking the law by selling Military Meals Ready to Eat or by your false advertising?
From The Ready Store:
SSgt_Lewis, we do not say they are military MREs but that they are military grade rations made by the same company that makes them for the military. The only thing different from these and the ones that soldiers get in the field is they don't have chewing gum nor a packet of hot salsa. You are right though that no one can legally sell military meals ready to eat. Hope this helps clear things up.
