  I remember these from my military days and they are still the same! You do have to be careful because some places sell MREs that are old and have been stuffed in somebody's attic somewhere. These were fresh and the case had a good variety. Never thought I would buy MREs, but with the way things are in the world, I just thought they would be good to have around.

  This distributor needs to state what will be shipped. It matters. I am looking for 6 months provisions for a family of 6. I will not buy under these vague terms of what will be delivered.

  Paul, I am sorry there isn't currently a better way. Our suppliers tell us what products they are producing and ship us a variety of those items. In an effort to produce the product at the best price possible and provide fresh product they have found that this is the best way to do it. While it does not give the customer the ability to chose the exact meals they want it provides them with a great solution at an affordable price with a very good shelf life.
  
  As for being deceptive I would have to disagree, we specifically state that a variety will be sent out and then list the items that could possibly be sent out.

  I bought two cases. Like others have stated, both cases are the same. Ideally I would want two difference cases too. I have read how others said the meal is not that great cold. I MUST respond that these are people eating this FOOD that are not starved, and are NOT hungry. I have gone days without food myself, and trust me this will taste VERY good if you are indeed HUNGRY/STARVED!

  Neal we try to have as much variety but when it comes to ordering MREs from the manufacturers they ship us the varieties they have at the time. When we place our next order it will likely come with a slightly different mix which will mean when we assemble this particular product it will likely have a different variety.

  There is a good variety in the 72-pack, and the meals are surprisingly good - better than I expected for "K-Rations."

  I purchased MREs from a few different sources to build up my food supply. These MREs were all fresh (2012) and I received 6 different entrees (12 of each). HOWEVER, there was a nice "MRE Entree Variety" sticker on the side of the shipping box complete with "The Ready Store" packing tape. Not exactly the privacy I was expecting (considering most of my supplies are ordered from the internet, the UPS and FedEx guys are here on a regular basis).

  I have tried about three different meals from the package. Placed in boiling water for several minutes. This food is heavy and I like to lighten each meal a little by adding some very hot water to thin it down a little. Each meal is tastey and filling. I paid full price but if you can catch it on sale you are getting a bargain.

  With 72 entrees, this case is an even better bulk discount than others at about $2.75 an entree. I do wish that there could be a good bundled deal that includes heaters. If your group is large enough this could be beneficial, but if you don't have a large group I couldn't see getting this, the self life isn't long enough to go through all of it in time. At 3 servings a day, one person would be eating these for 24 day straight!

  I had never had MREs before but I was told these are awesome for emergency preparedness. The pouch was easy to open and I decided to eat it many style right out of the pouch, cold. Eating it cold was not a good idea. Kind of gross that way. Then I squirted it out onto a plate and warmed it up in the micro and it was way better. Kind of like any prepared canned food you would eat except it supposed to last a lot longer.

  What more needs to be said? Great variety, great value, great taste (according to MY taste buds) and great shelf life. As with any food product, store in a cool, dry place and it will last a long time. Great for emergency provisions. Gives some peace of mind. Did you get one yet? What are you waiting for?

  I was very suprised at how good this product tastes. I gave a few out to friends and they were impressed also. They plan on buying some of these also. I was chided for "end of the world" fears but I pointed out that the electric goes off quite often around here. Very good product!

  I think that this case is a good bulk price, but it should be bundled with the heaters, that would be perfect!

  This is a no-frills item that comes out to be a great per-meal value. They'll last long enough to be usable for several camping trips. There are 5 or 6 tasty (for an MRE) flavors, so you should cycle enough to not get too bored. Not a whole lot of calories for a long backcountry hike, but enough to get you through.

  These are not like the ones I used in the U.S.M.C (the main entree ) the rest of the kit is. I was impressed with the mre when in the service. small size yet enough nutrients and vitamins for one meal a day with snacks.
  The flavor of these is not like the ones ive had and learned to love, these taste a little like multi-vitamins with a hint of what it is supposed to be, for instance the beef stew has more than a hint of vitamins. the variety is limited as is the taste of some, others not too bad. To sum it up,, I would get them for survival use and not much else.

  I almost did not buy this item after reading previous reviews noting the poor assortment of meals not to mention just not knowing what we'd get; as the mother of kids that was a real concern. I just received my shipment and was very happy with the assortment of meals received: BBQ Sauce w/ Chicken black beans & potatoes, White chicken w rice & veg, veggie lasagna, chili & mac, beef stew & spaghetti w meat sauce. Although we bought this as emergency food and hope to never need to use it I feel so much better knowing that it is food my family will happily eat. You never know, maybe we'll try them just for the heck of it. Thanks, A Dewees of Portland, Oregon

  It is probably somewhat my fault but I thought that I ordered complete MRE's. The picture shown does not reflect what I ordered, but the meals taste good and will go into my food storage system. Just be sure of what you exactly are ordering.
