I ordered the 72 hour emergency kit because I had not tried Mountain House foods before and thought this would be a good way to sample some of their products. I was happy with what I recieved. The meals were just as easy (maybe even easier) to prepare than a heated MRE entree, and the taste was exceptional. I will be ordering some more of these meals for my next camping/fishing trip, and am considering adding some of the larger cans to my emergency food supply. I have used The Ready Store twice now and was pleased with their service both times. Recommending both this site and this product to friends and family is something I would not hesitate to do.

This is a great kit for any emergency. I live in a hurricane zone and keep a few of these for each family member incase we lose power for a long period of time, which almost always happens with a direct hit from a hurricane. Highly recommended for anyone near the oceans or in a hurricane area.

If you only order a few things for your emergency stokpile, this would be my first item! FEMA recommends 3 days (72 hours) worth of provisions for emergency situations. This case will provide food for ONE PERSON for 3 days. If you have a family, you'll need one case for each person. Not a bad price for such good peace of mind! Also, Mountain House is the best food supplier out there!

Received this today with our first order from TheReadyStore.
We used boiling water and waited. We were hungry since we were planning to test for dinner.
Our family of five (2 adults, 3 children) were pleased and surprised at how wonderful these dishes tasted. Texture is ok, taste is amazing. I just wished the sodium levels were lower and potassium was higher. Overall best "72 hour" emergency backup. We will be getting these with no question for everyone next Xmas or birthdays, also a few for us! Thanks

My box has 2 pouches Beef Stroganoff, 2 of Chicken Teriyaki w/Rice, 1 of Pasta Primavera, 1 of Rice & Chicken, 2 of Scrambled Eggs w/Bacon, 1 of Granola w/Milk & Blueberries. I think the Ready Store description only lists 6 pouches. We used the eggs during a recent power outage and they were great. I recommend using a wire strainer to pour the water off the eggs because, otherwise, you may pour off some of the bacon pieces like I did. Good product.

Mountain House, like Saratoga Farms offers quality and great taste. Freeze-Dried foods offer many advantages over dehydrated foods like their taste for one as well as their texture and shape. In addition to all of that, freeze-drying locks in the freshness, vitamins, nutrients, color, and aroma of fresh frozen foods at the same time providing a shelf-stable product that will last for years.

All the contents of a Mountain House pouch are freeze dried to allow for a 10 year shelf life. Mountain House has also tested the pouches 30 years after the manufacture date and they were still good to eat and safe.
