If ground zero is hundreds or thousands of miles away 30 mins. is plenty of time to take the pill. People, you need to read up on this stuff in order to protect yourself. The first reviewer would contract thyroid cancer or die because s/he thought 30 mins. wasn't enough time to take the pill. Read.

How long would we have to take Iosat for, when there's that much radiation, will it protect us? What % does Iosat protect people from radiation at 2 tablets a day? thank you.

    From The Ready Store:

You only need to take 1 per day but you don't want to take them for longer than 10 days in a row.

I think that people sometimes don't even know that they are near harmful radiation until it is too late. Some companies can have it near you and you would'nt know. FEMA states that the government only has enough for the people who live within a mile radius of the stuff. You could even ration the stuff for 2 people for 1 week, that should be long enough to get far away from anything harmful.

We live about 35 miles from two nuclear reactors, and they are in the process of building 2 more on the same site! I'm so relieved to have these in our supplies--These tablets were one of the major items missing from our preparations, and they are good for seven years. Add them to your cart now, because 'after the fact' will be too late!

These have a long shelf life (mine are good through 2017 and I purchased them a few years ago) and this technology was proven effective in Chernobyl for those who were lucky enough to get the pills.

These are a must have but also consider taking them with a cup of red wine. Red wine has shown to have some benefits resisting radiation poisoning. I know it seems strange but a cursory search via google will give you some reading material on the subject. Specifically look up "resveratrol" which is a stabilized compound found in 99+% of red wine.

Received 4 packs of the IOSAT radiation protection tablets today. Was impressed with the secure packaging. They have a clear cellophane sleeve over the tablets which are individually housed in foil cups for easy acess on a daily basis. The expiration dates were 11/2018 on one of the packs and 4/2019 on the other three. Hope we never have to use them, but feel safer having them as we have quite a few nuclear power plants in our area.

The instructions say to take 30 minutes BEFORE exposure. How would this be possible in the event of Nuclear War? By the time it happens these would be useless as we would already be exposed to the fallout.

*From The Ready Store: Carlyn, this is the fastest product on the market to our knowledge and the only FDA Approved full strength tablet available to the public. Almost all pills take this amount of time to get into a human's bloodstream.

Benefits & Description

Seven Year Shelf Life | FDA Approved | Two Weeks Supply

Keep Your Life Organized
Small packet containing 14 tablets (a two week supply for one person) takes up little space and is easily stored in emergency kits. Be Prepared for Any Possibility
Each tablet contains 130 milligrams of radioactivity-neutralizing Potassium Iodide (KI). Don’t Stress about Restocking
The long shelf-life of each packet means that you don’t have to rotate them for 7 years. Only FDA Approved Pill
IOSAT tablets have been FDA Approved since 1982 and are the only ones to share that distinction. Feel Confident in Your Preparations
As always, this product is trusted quality from The Ready Store—it won’t let you down! In the event of a nuclear accident, radioactive iodine would be released into the air and could then be absorbed by the thyroid, damaging it and potentially causing death. You DON’T want to be left unprotected and unprepared during a radioactive emergency. For example, after the Chernobyl melt-down, all US supplies of Potassium Iodide, which protects the body from the harmful radioactive iodine, disappeared for months! Health experts believe that the greatest health concerns from a nuclear accident are likely to be not from the initial explosion or spill, but from the release of radioiodine being carried downwind hundreds of miles from the original site. When Potassium Iodide is taken it floods the thyroid with a stabilized iodine, preventing 99% percent of the damage caused by radioactive nuclear fallout.

Iodide is actually more familiar than most people realize—it’s the ingredient added to everyday table salt to make it iodized salt. IOSAT, which uses Iodine and Potassium, has passed all FDA tests for purity, quality, safety, and efficacy to become one of only three potassium iodide tablets in the U.S. that can be legally sold and safely ingested. Defense experts recommend keeping a supply on hand for each family member.

Potassium Iodide, of course, should only be taken when public health officials recommend and is to be used solely for emergency use. The recommended dosage is as follows: Adults and children 1 year of age or older: One (1) tablet once a day. Crush for small children. Babies under 1 year of age: One-half (1/2) tablet once a day. Crush first. To be taken 30 minutes prior to exposure. Supplies are limited, so place your order now!
