This beef stew is so good when heated up and there is plenty for 2 people. Save money by buying the 2 serving pouch, not just the one serving one.

Not too bad in taste. But in order to have this one package feed my five kids we put it over rice and it filled everyone up. When you buy it on sale and get the free shipping from Ready Store the price per bag is the cheapest around.

Having tried a dozen Mountain House entrees, the beef stew is one of my favorites, and is a nice break from meals that are rice or pasta based. The stew is a combination of potatoes, beef, peas and carrots in a sauce that is hard to describe. It does not taste like the typical sauce from either slow-cooking beef (or from canned stew, for that matter), but it is tasty. The dish is packed with beef and veggies, and does not rely on the sauce to bulk up the meal.

For a change of pace, I will add a pouch of beef stew to a large packet of S&B curry mix, and serve it over rice. This makes a cost-effective meal that feeds six.

Good taste. A little pricey for each bag but easy to travel with and cooks fast. A little too salty to eat too many at once. Be sure to drink plenty of water after eating.

Mountain House™ freeze-dried foods are delicious, there are few brands that rival it in terms of quality and taste. Freeze-Dried foods offer many advantages over dehydrated foods. To begin with they taste much better because through the freeze-drying process the foods retain their taste, texture, and shape of fresh frozen foods. In addition, freeze-drying locks in the freshness, vitamins, nutrients, color, and aroma of fresh frozen foods while providing the shelf-stable convenience of canned and dehydrated foods.

All the contents of a Mountain House pouch are freeze dried to allow for a 10 year shelf life. Mountain House has also tested the pouches 30 years after the manufacture date and they were still safe to eat and good.
