Like to try new products! The pack gave us that opportunity. So far the Honey wheat was best, though for our taste I added a teaspoon of salt and a tablespoon honey for second run. I used a Zojirushi BBCC x20 bread machine and a half recipe from the can. Set it on whole wheat with medium crust and it was great. Good texture for whole wheat bread, good keeping.

Survival food doesn't mean you can't eat in style. I have a few #10 cans of this stuff to make bread (I wish I would have purchased this entire pack). This got me into bread making at home, which saves me a lot of money. I would highly recommend this ReadyPack for your shelf!

This group of ingredients is a nice all-in-one package to help beginning breadmakers test out different recipes and methods of baking bread at home. It's such an important skill to learn! I started with a breadmaker but I got terrible results, now I make my bread by hand and I understand the textures and "feel" of the dough a lot better. I'd recommend learning by hand at first. It's very rewarding!

I wanted to try the mixes so bought the last time this was on sale. Used the sourdough, whole wheat and white both by "regular hand made" and bread machine. Second run: I used a Zojirushi BBCC x20 bread machine and a half recipe and added 1 teaspoon salt and 1 tablespoon more honey and used medium crust. WOW, it gave a big loaf! Super charged yeast guys!

  • Gloriously expensive failure – from an experienced baker

I recently purchased the Bread Making ReadyPack - SKU: FD0432. I’ve been making bread for many years both traditionally using my oven and using my Zojirushi BB-PAC20 Home Bakery Virtuoso. I made several batches of white, wheat, and sourdough bread using this product following the printed instructions to the letter. The resulting breads were very flat, highly dense, and tiny for a five-cups-of-flour loaf of bread. I’ve always gotten large two pound loaves of bread using just three cups of any type of flour, so this product is definitely a disappointment when following the instructions. Reducing the water content did modestly reduce the “dimple” in the top but didn’t help with the low-rise
problem at all. Is there something wrong with either the mix or the instructions? Has any of the Ready Store staff actually attempted to bake bread using this product? If so, how did they fix the low rise (almost no rise) problem? As it is right now the Saratoga Farms bread mixes are pretty much a complete failure. I’m hopeful the Ready Store will eventually come up with a solution, but in the meantime I suggest storing and using regular bread flour until it’s widely and proudly announced the many problems with this product are corrected.

    From The Ready Store:
While the Saratoga Farms bread making recipes may not rise as much as other recipes, we are very pleased with the quality of our 20 year shelf life breads. Actual images of the bread mixes baked per instructions are in the product images above. We did give this customer a full refund on product he was dissatisfied with. The Ready Store works hard to keep customers happy and to keep long term relationships.
