Excellent
149 of 270 people found this review helpfulSo lets start with honesty this product is an emergency ration/calorie bar, it is exactly what you would expect from that. You basically get a square or dense/dry short bread. Nothing fancy and there are no bells or whistles. While there are no frills to this product it has a lot going for it. It is small and light and provides a really decent quantity of calories and vitamins. They will provide you with the calories needed to survive an emergency situation, they are packed well, and they are small enough to stash a couple in all sorts of useful places. They taste just as described with a light lemon flavor. My kids LOVE them and ask for them despite the lack of an emergency. And it turns out my husband and I have discovered that they taste great with coffee. I am a little bit spoiled and would prefer not to have to eat just calorie bars for days and days Breakfast, lunch and dinner because that would get boring (although boring and alive is still acceptable in an emeregency) but I think the real strength of these bars is that they can be combined with MRE's or other emergency foods during the day to create variety. 1 MRE and 2 squares of a mainstay bar would provide 2200 calories for the day and enough food to feel full. Some MRE's and a stash of Mainstay food bars could keep a family fed for a good while, but they also will take up very little space to store or pack We Keep ours in a plastic bin.

Good purchase
8 of 18 people found this review helpfulI could not believe how affordable and low priced this item was! I can't wait to receive mine in the mail. This is a must buy on every occasion. High calories, taste good and very convenient when on the go.

Great for BUG or GOOD
9 of 17 people found this review helpfulTaste good. Not what you would want to eat for more than a day or two. It's purpose is to help you get calories in a time when food is not easily obtainable. Coast Guard and ships use this for emergencys. A great item for your GOOD (get out of dodge) or BOB (bug out bag).

3-day food bar
5 of 8 people found this review helpfulThese are good for your car because of the shelf life and they don't really melt or anything. I don't think anyone would want to eat this for 3 days straight, but it's better than nothing.

Great for intended use.
4 of 6 people found this review helpfulBought these for two purposes, one is to have for long term storage to keep my family fed and to use for lightweight and high calorie "bug out" food, and the second is for taking along for hunting trips. While hunting for several hours at a time I usually carry trail mix or candy bars. This is much better, lower odor and has the calories i need. This is not sold in the gourmet section at the grocery store, that is not it's intended purpose.

Great to Have on Hand
1 of 2 people found this review helpfulGreat to have on hand in a true emergency. Don't think I would want to depend on them for too long.

backup provisions
1 of 2 people found this review helpfulTastes sort of like dense sweet pound cake... but looks like modeling clay. Not a primary food supply, but easy to carry in BOB. wouldn't want to have to survive on them for long term.
Always look for the discounted packs!11/25/12
