My Top 3 Freeze-Dried Desserts
If you haven’t tried one of our freeze-dried desserts I’m here to tell you that you’re missing out. With a lot of people when you mention food storage they have thoughts of stale, bland, tasteless food that you might not be able to choke down even in an emergency situation.
For me personally, with freeze-dried foods my biggest problem is that it tastes so good that I have a hard time keeping it on the shelf just for food storage. This is especially true with freeze-dried desserts. The desserts fix up quicker then regular desserts and they taste just as good!
Here’s my top 3 Freeze-dried Desserts, this is food your food storage can’t be without:
While technically this isn’t considered a dessert item, good luck trying to convince my kids. Just a week ago we had a can opened up and within days my kids and their friends had polished off the entire thing (Okay I helped a little). There was nothing fancy about it, just straight up freeze-dried strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. My kids don’t even take the time to add water, they just add some to a Ziploc bag and they’re out the door. It’s the ultimate dessert option, dry, wet, alone or placed on top of your favorite dessert the Triple Berry Blend is a guaranteed crowd pleaser.
If nothing else freeze-dried Ice Cream Sandwiches have a certain bit of nostalgia to them. I remember back in the 80’s this stuff was called “Space Ice Cream” or “Astronaut Ice Cream”. This is a dessert that you can eat straight from the can; you don’t even have to add water. I really like the fact that there’s literally not preparation required and that the ice cream melts in your mouth. Definitely a dessert that I have to remind myself, “This is for food storage purposes only”.
One of the top reasons why I like the Granola with Blueberries & Milk is its flexibility. I take that back. Really that’s just a fringe benefit. The top reason I like it is because it’s incredibly good!
This is a dessert that you can have hot or cold. Are you looking for a something sweet to warm you up? Eat it hot. Do you want a cool, refreshing breakfast? Just add cold water. With Mountain Houses top of the line ingredients this is dessert that both adults and children will love and is hands down my top freeze-dried dessert choice!
