Emergency Candles
What Should I Look For When Buying Emergency Candles?
Every homeowner who acknowledges the importance of preparing for emergencies knows that candles are an indispensable part of an emergency preparedness kit. Fortunately, nowadays, emergency candles are available as well which you can stock instead of (or to complement) your standard candles. Regular candles are usually long sticks of wax that give off smoke and drip wax when lit. Emergency candles, on the other hand, are made of liquid paraffin that is contained in a bottle. Simply light the wick on top of the bottle - and voila, you have light! Emergency candles have the advantage of not giving off smoke or odor that regular candles normally give off. If you are in close quarters (like when your family is huddled in the basement or cellar due to a tornado alert in your vicinity), then you want emergency candles so that you and your loved ones do not react to any smoke or odor given off. Emergency candles may be more expensive than standard wax candle sticks, but you get comfort in knowing that they are more convenient to use than standard wax candle sticks. Additionally, emergency candles will burn for close to 115 hours. There may be times when you still need standard wax candles, but fortunately you now also have the option of stocking up on emergency candles as well. |
