I ordered the Kelly Kettle, and then ordered the accessories right after I placed the order with The Ready Store. The accessories arrived from Ireland 2 weeks before the Kettle did. Easy to assemble, easy to fuel and use. Very functional. Well worth the money. I bought it as a back-up to the back-pack portable camp stoves I have. Its probably going to be the primary as it doesn't depend on man-made fuels in an emergency.

As a survivalist, a prepper, an avid fisherman, Colorado's best game tracker, an outdoor writer and a backcountry guide there is no other choice than the Kelly Kettle. Why would you buy something that requires you to carry or purchase fuels? In a survival situation you can use anything you can find around you like sticks, pinecones, leaves, grasses, dried animal dung. There is one in my backpack, my bug-out-bag and the base camp model in my food storage, Rick Regalado AKA The Great White loves this product!!!!!

This is a good little stove because you can use anything you can find out in the wild for fuel. It's ok to carry some fuel tablets, but they will eventually run out if you are out longer than you planned to be, which almost always happens.

  • The best way to boil water hiking or for emergency use.

Kelly Kettle stainless-steel base-camp is a fantastic ultra-efficient way to boil water using any natural fuel including, twigs, sticks, small pieces of scrap wood, dry grass, paper or even desiccated animal dung. It boils 1.5 liters of water in less than 6 minutes. It uses a heating effect similar to a rocket stove, but lightweight with a pack weight of less than 2lbs. I LOVE IT! Tried & true, it has been used by fishermen in Ireland for over 100 years.
I use the Kelly Kettle to cook my freeze-dried food as well as boil the water used to make it. It works Great rain or shine. Stop carrying gas, propane, alcohol, or hexamine fuel tablets (Esbit) and use available natural sources. Unless you live in Antarctica or the Arctic Circle, it should be no problem finding a natural source or fuel. Watch any of the Kelly Kettle customer reviews/demos on YouTube and you’ll be hooked. Kelly Kettle also makes a light weight stainless-steel Hobo-Stove that fits on the fire base container of the Kelly Kettle to cook with, that fits right in the kettle base and works far better than the pot support that fits on top of the kettle. (Or you can make your own hobo-stove out of half of a 6” coffee can that fits perfectly on top of the Kelly Kettle fire base container.)
Buy the Stainless Steel Base Camp and you will always be prepared to quickly boil water a good amount of water without all those expensive hard-to-carry fuels that may be difficult to replace during an emergency, or if you are out camping or hiking. I’m very happy with mine after 2 years of use!

The Kelly Stove is very cool, and it lives up to its reputation. By far the most useful feature is the fact that you can use both more traditional fuel sources (such as charcoal if you have it) or you can collect whatever is at hand (paper, leaves, bark, branches) and make a fire that way. If you peruse the listings on youtube you will see several suggestions for use of this stove, including making a little basket to contain the tinder and preventing it from spilling it out when moving the jug. If you want to cook with it you'll either want to get the full kit version, or if you have your own camp cookware you'll at least want to go online and find the potstand (I've seen them at about $5) as that is not included with this model. Highly recommended!!

If you watch the videos on the Ready Store about this product, you can see extra parts only available in the Complete Kit, but Ready Store doesn't sell the complete kit, or the extra parts on the side. I'd suggest making those options available. I ended up buying this great product for boiling a lot of water fast from another site so I could get the complete kit with the pot, pot holder, grill grates, etc.

    From The Ready Store:

Look for that accessory kit in the next couple days, we are going to add it after enough customer feedback.

This Large Stainless Steel Kelly Kettle boils approximately 9.5 - 6 oz. Mugs of water at a time. Suitable for base camps, car camping, Scout camps, picnics, hunters, outfitters outposts, emergency preparedness kits, humanitarian aid stations, or anyone working in the forests or the great outdoors.

The Kelly Kettle works in harsh weather conditions bringing water to boil within a matter of minutes using whatever solid fuel is naturally occuring in the area - sticks, grass, pine cones, bark etc. No need to carry fuel. Ever! Kelly Kettle users have described their kettles as the "Greatest Invention of all Time". Cost-Free, Carbon-Neutral, Eco Friendly Camping at its Very Best!

Note: The fire bases invert partially up into the bottom of our kettles to make the unit as compact as possible for transport and storage. Normally, the fire base will not invert fully up into the kettle. Never force the inverted base up into the kettle to try and achieve a 'perfect' fit as; this may cause damage to the kettle or result in the base becoming stuck within the kettle.

Recent events like Hurricane Katrina have opened our eyes to the responsibility we have ourselves to ensure our family’s safety and security in the midst of disaster:

“Americans rightly asked, if this is the way our government responds to a natural disaster it knew about days in advance, how would it respond to a surprise terrorist attack? How would it respond to an earthquake?” --Russ Carnahan
