Works well26 of 52 people found this review helpful
I just used my stricker and it was very simple. I feel safer knowing that I have one more source for making a fire.

Great product and addition to your emergency supplies.
It does what is says, starts fires.7 of 17 people found this review helpful
Not much to it. Simple to use and easy to start a fire. What more can you ask for from a fire starter.
Needs a better striker6 of 10 people found this review helpful
Needs something a litttle thicker to make a spark. I'm not great at starting fires so maybe its just me.
Excellent TOOL!5 of 10 people found this review helpful
I LOVED this thing. Even though I have water proof matches, this is a great tool to have also. Haven't had a chance to try it yet but love how small and compact it is. Wonder how well the flint will do or last but for the price, it was well worth it.
This firestarter is vital to survival4 of 9 people found this review helpful
If you can't start a fire you may not be able to cook food, keep warm and ward off danger in the night darkness. This product is excellent because it never wears out. We each carry one in bug our bug out bag.

This is good to have as an alternate source to make a fire, but you need to get outside and practice with it so you know how to use it. Don't just throw it in a bag for later. Know how to use, it'll take to effort at first, but you'll figure it out so that you can use it when you need it most.
I bought this same product at a different place and I tell you this works the very first time.
This product works great and is a must have for any camper/hiker/outdoorsman. You need the ability to start a fire to stay warm, and this is the best sure fire (no pun intended) way to do it. Not to mention you get hundreds strikes from each one.
Great back up
This is a great back up for waterproof matches for my bug out bag. Must Buy!
good back up light source
Ordered this fire starter to put in my son in laws Christmas stocking to add to his survival kit. This is a great product to have on hand after you have used up all the matches.
A Must Have
This small tool is a must have for any emergency pack and/or hiking pack. I feel much more capable when I have one more way to start a fire.
I recommend trying this multiple times, before it's required. There is a slight learning curve to it. It is also not best used in windy situations; since the shavings will blow away.
very easy to use
I watched the video and went out and started a small fire using today's paper. Super easy to use. Maybe I'm lucky, but it doesn't seem to require a technique of any kind. Simple and straight forward. Excellent value and compact.
Ready set fire
These really are a must have for anyone that spends time outdoors. They are very light weight and super easy to use. These sure beat the old way of starting a fire in the scouts and the price here is better than the local Walmart and sporting good store.
In case you run out of matches...
This comes in handy. Even for a newbie city-dweller like me, this is simple enough to use that even I can start a fire with it.
This is so simple to use and a must for any survival kit. Think about how important it is for you to be able to start a fire in an emergency situation. You would be willing to spend a whole lot more for this if you ever needed it and don't have one. Get one now, don't wait until it is too late.
Practice makes perfect
These are very handy and reliable, but I would recommend practicing with it before you ever take it camping or hiking...it's a skill that didn't come naturally to me.

This is a great value, consistently provides sparks at a high rate. Worth the investment to have a secondary fire source.
Takes some practice, but great once you get the hang of it!
I got these for our bug out bags. It's always useful to have multiple ways of starting a fire! I tested it out and it took me about 4 minutes to actually get it to work, but keep in mind I have never used a fire starter in my entire life. Will definitely make sure that each member of the family knows the correct technique to using this product, that way we won't waste time when we need it the most!
This is a must have if you are prepping or going camping. It is very easy to use. Guaranteed anyone can do it.
Scout troop had fun with this196 of 399 people found this review helpful
We bought a few of these for a "Scout Olympics" and they boys had to start a fire only using this fire starter. It worked great and they were able to start their fires. We gave one to each boy to keep for their backpacking trips. The magnesium lit up without any problem. I think they are totally worth the money.
Does the job well.
I had originally bought some of these at other stores around the city, and they dont work as well as these. They do work, dont get me wrong, just these work better. These are also more expensive at the same time. Figure out which is more important to you and go with it.
It's an option
I've used a lot of fire starters. This one is ok if you plan on only using it with the magnesium. If you're looking for a flint and steel you should go elsewhere (and not to the Bear Grylls version...). The striker is sub par, but the magnesium will get the job done every time.

the blade almost didn't work.. I had to use my knife to get it to work. I bought this one because I was hopeful a knife wouldn't be needed.. I think you would be there a long time with the blade they gave you. So, I would just by the Magnesium block next time for less
From The Ready Store.
Edward, we would be interested in having you send that back so we can take a look at it, maybe you got a defective product? We have yet to have that issue be reported in years of carrying the product so we would love to take a look at it.

The striker is flimsy, and I would recommend something else for your fire starting needs. The striker supplied is nothing more than a shortened hack saw blade. It was uncomfortable to use, and far too flexible to make a good spark. The Magnesium block and ferrous rod can be used with a better striker. I found a broken metal file that worked well as a striker.
