This battery is heavier than #$% but I guess that is somewhat expected. It has worked well though you definitely have to read through the instructions to make sure it works to its ability. Ive seen lots of people talk about it online and you need to make sure you arnt killing it early by being lazy.

Being heavier than 20 pounds, this is definitely not for bugging out, but for staying in, say during a long power outage, this is a very reliable piece of equipment.

This info will be broken into two posts covering short-term power outage (less than 12 hours) and extended power outage (more than 12 hours). • When the lights go out what do you do? Part 2: Extended Power Outage and Generators

With hurricane season right around the corner, I have been thinking lately about generators and the need for portable power. As I did some research, I actually found some great information from an article on Amazon.com that I have included in the body of this post. I have edited the article for content and brevity. My recommendation [...]

Stay in Control of Your Future
This portable Ranger 350 power pack contains an incredible 350-watt hours of power with 500-1000 life cycles! The rugged, weather-resistant design is UV treated and will protect your power pack against the elements. Enjoy Versatility and Compatibility
The Ranger 350 comes with an AC wall charger and backup replaceable fuses. Not to mention, the 350 Power Pack has built in temperature control and fuse systems to ensure safety and long-term performance! Don't Let Disasters Hamper Your Way of Life
The Ranger 350's output ports include USB and AC inverters, and it can be charged through an AC wall outlet or solar panels. It's also fully compatible with the Ranger UI, which provides up to 400 watts of continuous power! Make Emergency Preparedness Convenient
It's LCD monitor keeps track of power storage, and its integrated charge controller protects your internal battery and connected devices from voltage spikes. It's true what they say: nothing is permanent—except change. Sometimes those changes are within our control—things like getting married, choosing where to work, and deciding to go on a diet. But other times, the changes that happen around us are like a whirlwind we just get caught up in. Don't let yourself get swept away by the winds of change—instead, start preparing for the unknown now, so when change comes, it won't sweep you off your feet!

The Ranger 350 is a great asset to anyone who has ever thought about emergency preparedness. With long lasting power at 350W, you can have hours of power from just one little battery pack. You can even chain up a total of four (4) Ranger power packs for 1400 watt hours of extreme power. The Ranger 350 charges via wall, solar panels, or car adapters and can be used as a primary source of power for lighting, cooling and heating, and other electronic accessories. Don’t let something as trivial as a vicious winter storm or major earthquake get in your way; start preparing with alternative energy source, and you won't have to worry the next time the power goes out!

Recent events like Hurricane Katrina have opened our eyes to the responsibility we have ourselves to ensure our family’s safety and security in the midst of disaster:

“Americans rightly asked, if this is the way our government responds to a natural disaster it knew about days in advance, how would it respond to a surprise terrorist attack? How would it respond to an earthquake?” --Russ Carnahan
