I have seen other sites sell this and the batteries separately. That never made any sense to me, I'm glad that this comes with the batteries!

With this Goal Zero Guide 10 Battery Pack you can quickly charge up your cell phone, GPS navigation tool, or other portable electronics.
This Guide 10 battery pack comes with 4 AA rechargeable NiMH batteries made by Goal Zero that are a low self discharge which keeps them good in storage for 12-18 months without losing any power. These rechargeable batteries are designed for the Guide 10 with regards to both mAH and Volts so they are the perfect match.
To recharge the batteries, use the included mini USB input cable to connect the Guide 10 batery pack to your laptop or similar USB power source. For charging via solar energy, use the included cable to connect your Guide 10 to the Nomad 7m solar panel (not included). Charging time is from 3 to 5 hours in good sun. Lastly, the Guide™ 10 also includes a built-in LED light that runs 20+ hours per charge.
NOTE: To recharge AAA batteries a AAA battery tray is needed (not included).
