Supply Chain Strained…

There is no doubt this is the busiest time the emergency preparedness industry has seen in the almost 10 years we have been in business. Just today we called 5 of our top competitors to reconfirm this. Their ship times on freeze-dried orders averaged 4 weeks with a few of them in the 5 to 6 week range,  in stock items were often not shipping for a couple weeks due to the need to get back ordered shipments out the door first.

Seeing that we have been in the same boat as them and that customers are generally hearing the same thing no matter where they go, we wanted to let you know what we are doing to be able to deliver our mission of being your one stop shop for emergency preparedness items.

1. We have increased our workforce dramatically.
2. We sped up our strategic plan to minimize bottlenecks in the supply chain.
3. We have increased operational efficiencies

So what does all of this amount to you the customer? It means we are making significant headway. We have reduced our ship times by 20% in the last month and are seeing huge improvements coming in the coming weeks.

We appreciate your business and are happy to see more and more people are getting prepared. We thank you for your patience these past couple months and assure you we will do all we can to improve the situation and take care of you because without you The Ready Store doesn’t exist.

Well I hope that it is getting better. I haven’t ordered from the Ready Store in a long time, but recently in light of Japan’s tragedy re-examined a few things to the list and added to it. However then silly me, I go reading further on this blog after I ordered and see what seems to be a disastor going on with customers and you guys. I can wait a few weeks, but any more than that is silly to sell items you cannot produce to shipment. Mind you, everything I ordered is not listed as backordered so I hope you guys honor your committment. I have a few people asking me about this stuff, so I am holding my tongue about it and taking a wait and see approach. Hope things are as good as they were when I ordered a couple years ago.

Regards, it isn’t easy making money!

I wouldn’t personally call the wait times a disaster and I dont think a very large percentage of people would call it a disaster either, it is what happens when people wake up to the importance of getting prepared. It sounds like there’s a spike in demand and The Ready Store is responding to it, sometimes that can be a little painful to the people that are late to the party but you guess what that is what happens when you procrastinate or simply dont think responsibly for your own survival. Its not like this has been a small bump – this spike has essentially closed down Mountain House for supplying food to companies like The Readey Store.

I just contacted my suppliers yesterday 3/24/2011 and they told me that it would be 6 to 8 weeks on the emergency preparedness foods. Everyone is in the same boat and people are finally waking up to notice there is something going on and maybe they should start preparing for whatever is on the way.

Don’t wait to purchase your emergency preparedness products. It is first come first serve. So if it is a wait of 5 to 8 weeks make your order so you don’t get caught unprepared.

FEMA purchased 1 Billion dollars in emergency preparedness food and they need their contracts filled by 3/26/2011 which is tomorrow. Why are they buying up so much food? Is something going on that they aren’t telling us??

The reason many of our suppliers are having a hard time keeping up with the orders is that they are filling the government contracts first, then they will get to us.

I put in an order 2/23 and I’m still waiting for the bulk of it. I can wait, I’m in no rush, but the wait times are getting longer. That was my second order from The Ready Store. I’m very happy with the communication and their products. The website is informative and helpful,…

…just waiting. I hope FEMA got their shipment, and the suppliers can start getting product to Mountain House and Saratoga, so I can get my order. I’m thinking of placing another order, since we just went through a CERT program refresher.

    Good luck everyone

I put my order for the 6 month supply in on 3/6 and was told it would be 4-6 weeks. It is now 4/19 and no sign of an order and after emails and customer service tickets that go unanswered, I am writing here. Where is my order?
I saw after placing a second order on 4/7 that now you are saying 10-12 weeks for these orders, but can you at least acknowledge an order and tell me an eta of the first order?
It seems the Ready Store is ready to take your money but not ready to let you know what is going on with your order????

    From The Ready Store:

James, I checked in on your orders and it looks like the 6 month supply order was placed on April 6th not March 6th. I also checked our email cue with the email you used to post this comment (your verizon.net address) and didn’t see any unanswered emails by that email address so just to be sure they are going to get to us let me repost our customer service email: customerservice@thereadystore.com
As for your April order I have here in the system that it was completed on April 14th not the 7th. I hope this information helps. You can also log into your account and see all of this information as well.

Thanks for your patience as we deal with this high spike in demand.

Gene – How about actually reading the order rather than posting misleading crap. I sent you the email with the cut and pasted orders in it so you can actually read them rather than make crap up. I cut the orders right out of my account page. You were looking at my last order that already shipped and not the orders that are back ordered! If you had bothered to really do your job you would find that the first order was placed MARCH 6 and the second one on APRIL 6 – just as I stated. I am very unimpressed with your response and lack of ownership. I sent you an email with all the details in case you only read one a month. Do your homework next time before you write crap and have to eat it.

    James,

I want to apologize, I didn’t see your first couple orders and gave you information based on an incomplete view of your account. I will have Bryson, a customer service representative, give you a call here shortly and give you the ETA on everything.

I was trying to help the customer service team out but evidently I should stick to product development and marketing (my position in the company) as my familiarity with our order system is not sufficient enough it seems. The last thing I want to do is give wrong information.

Again, I apologize and will have a customer service rep call within the hour.

    Thanks,

    Gene

I would like to know where my first order as outlined above is now? I was told not to worry 12 weeks was enough time. Well here we are at the 12th week and no information and no ETA??? order number 100049084 was placed on March 6th and no shipping ETA is given even after repeated emails. This is not good. I presume I will not see the second order until fall?

    From The Ready Store:

James, just sent you an email with the update… which is good news especially compared to what the competitors are able to do right now with big supply kits such as the one you are waiting on. Like I mentioned in the email it should ship in the coming 7-14 days.

Thanks for your patience while we worked through the product shortage.
