A back up on a back up for preparedness1 of 3 people found this review helpful
We already have a dehydrator that we haven't used for years. It usually takes us about 2 days to dry some banana slices which we can gobble up in about 15 minutes. Having a dehydrator that dries food in 2 to 4 hours would probably be a good idea to have, particularly if the fridge or freezer quits on you. I always thought I would have to can the meat but since I have made unbelievably great jerky, I think I would do that instead of canning. I would hook it up to the solar generator.
Handy for snacks
Great dehydrator for making long-term storage foods and dried foods for snacks. Nice and quiet, dries very well and efficiently.
This will make you the most popular mom on the block! Dehydrate your own strawberries, bananas...yum! Snacks aside, I dehydrate tons of vegetables from my garden and save them for cooking with later in the year. They'll keep well in mason jars or mylar with O2 absorbers. Highly recommended!
A great option
This is the perfect backup for long term storage. This gives you the ability to be self sufficient.
I have been thinking for years about dehydrating but was daunted by high cost, slide-out tray models displayed in catalogs that came in the mail. I wanted something easy, safe, good looking, under $100, and high performing. After seeing very high customer ratings, I ordered the Snackmaster Express from The Ready Store and even got the lower price advertised on another site. Bought thin sliced top round beef, cut it into strips, and made a marinade using the sample packets included in the original package plus my own ingredients (based on the DIY recipe included in the user manual). Marinated for 24 hours. Then, in about 4 hours, I had the most yummy, fresh, healthy jerky ever. Happy dance!!!
A way to preserve food for a time there may be no refrigeration possible.
Well worth the investment.
Cheaper at wal-mart7 of 10 people found this review helpful
Actually, this same exact item, is around $X (price removed by The Ready Store) at wal-mart.com with free shipping. So, I would get it there.
From The Ready Store:
Sometimes other re-sellers, sell a product for a lower price but since we offer a price matching we can make sure you get the best price possible. Just call into our customer service and they will look at the company with the lower price and go through the shopping cart process to find the total cost (cost with tax and shipping) and match that price.
