Choosing emergency foods that are low in salt lowers your chances of becoming dehydrated. Make Emergency Preparedness Convenient
Datrex bars last 5 years, yet they have no artificial ingredients!
Every 72 hour emergency kit needs a stash of these tasty, high energy, and nutritious Datrex food bars. You might worry about the flavor of a bar packed so full of nutrition that it can keep one person sustained for three days, but Datrex food bars have a light coconut flavor and a moist cookie-like texture that our customers love. These bars are high in calories, but low in protein and salt so they won’t make you thirsty.

During a disaster, adequate nourishment is one of the most important things you can plan for. Each Datrex bar contains 18 individually wrapped 200 calorie portions so it’s easy to keep track of how much you have consumed. This means that with just one 3600 calorie bar, you can stretch your food supply for 3 days! Datrex food bars are used by the U.S. Coast Guard as well, and they make a great addition to your emergency auto kit, 72 hour kit, at the office, or your hiking pack.

Emergency officials recognize the need for emergency food supplies. FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) recommends that each person in your household should have at LEAST three days' worth of nonperishable food stored in case of emergency.

"If an earthquake, hurricane, winter storm, or other disaster strikes your community, you might not have access to food, water, and electricity for days or even weeks. By taking some time now to store emergency food and water supplies, you can provide for your entire family."

""Review of both Datrex and mainstay" I like both as emergency rations for short 1-3 day duration. After that without supplement they become abit tedious. Long term they are good at supplemetning your other supplies, and or giving you flexibility to have rations if you have to move or take short trips. Mainstay by far tastes better and is packed with vitamins. its texture is more of a dense shortbread lemon cookie. The 400 calorie sections are a bit awkward to break off but can be done. Package says once opened can be used for several days. Would be nice if package could be ziplocked after opening to protect from moisture or dirt. Datrex is in more conveniant 200 calorier individually wrapped bars. Not as much nutrition so after a few days need to supplement. Each individual bar is a bit light and crumbly, particularly when you open the individually wrapped 200 calorie sections. Flavor is a bit plane like eating flaky shortcake with a bit of a cinnamon (in my mind) taste. Once package is open again individual bars are protected with plastic wrap but main package could be better if it could be ziplocked after opening. Bottom line is I like both for what they are intended for-Short duration emergency ration. I keep one 2400 pack of each in each of my vehicles, and more at home in bug out bag. alternating a 400 calorie mainstay with a 200 calorie Datrex makes both abit more edible over a few days--Then dive into the freeze dried neapolitan ice cream-heaven!!"

"I bought some of these for my survival kit so I had to see what I would be eating when the world came to an end and actually on a scale of 1 to 10 I would say about a 7. I mean, they are crumbly and a little dry, but they didn't make me thirsty. The best comparison I can make is to a shortbread cookie kind of thing with a little bit of sweetness. I love how many calories I can get in a small bar."

Pros: Long Shelf-Life, Easily Portable, Low Price, Extremely Convenient, High Calories
