I'll admit these are not the best thing that you will ever eat, but when comparing food bars I would say they are all about the same, you would only eat them if there was nothing else around, which is their purpose. It's like eating an oily cookie, but it's dry so it will store vacuum packed, it's "oily" feeling so it's non thirst provoking. I think they are a great product.

These Datrex rations are awful when compared to the Mainstay bars. The taste resembles some sort of crumbly coconut bar but it's worse than you'd expect. I like coconut but didn't like these bars. They are very dry and crumbly. In short, I'd eat them again if I didn't have anything else but will not be buying them again. Mainstays are just so much better.

5 year shelf life means less worry about having supplies when you need it to help you through a difficulty. Datrex food bars are a great way for people to stock up on enough food to last them a long time without breaking their budget. These bars are high in calories and nutrients, and store easily anywhere you want them. And because they last for 5 years, you can stash them somewhere and then forget about it until you need them.

If a disaster ever strikes, there is no telling where you'll be. It could be at home, school, work, driving somewhere, or anywhere else. And even if you do have a good supply of food storage at home, if you aren't there when a disaster happens, you may not be able to get there to utilize that storage. These Datrex food bars are a great safeguard against being away from home when an emergency happens. Take them with you wherever you go—and you'll never be left unprepared!

Emergency officials recognize the need for emergency food supplies. FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) recommends that people need to prepare for an emergency so they are not waiting on an outside source to bring emergency supplies.
