Super Antibody Discovered Because of Swine Flu?
The BBC is reporting that scientists have discovered an antibody that can fight off all Influenza A viruses. Experiments on flu-infected mice, published in Science Express, showed the antibody could be used as an “emergency treatment”.
They are hoping to create a vaccine for the flu. Some people who have survived the “Swine Flu” have developed a super immunity to other infections. When this was studied, scientists were able to isolate an antibody – called FI6 – which targeted a protein found on the surface of all influenza A viruses called haemagglutinin.
The hope is that they could use this to stop current infections and also to vaccinate against future infections. It’s amazing how our bodies can adapt. A couple of years ago everyone was crazy scared about the swine flu, now we are finding that we may even benefit from it.
It’s a classic case of “that what doesn’t kill you can make you stronger.” So the question is, how can you increase your odds of survival in a disaster so that you can reap the possible benefits for those who are left after the emergency has struck?
Be Ready.
I’m not saying that there are huge benefits after every disaster, but I’m saying that you can increase your odds of surviving if you prepare. And, you just may learn things that can prevent the disaster from happening again, or at least learn how to be better prepared the next time it strikes.
Bad things do and will happen. Whether it’s the loss of a job, an earthquake, a business failing, or a hurricane. But each of these man-made or natural disasters can be prepared for. And who know’s you just might be a lot stronger afterwords.

That’s a strange way to look at preps… get the flu and hope you survive so you can become stronger? Or, maybe, hope this happens to someone else?
July 30th, 2011 at 4:48 pmIt is an attempt to make you think about the possibilities rather than the probabilities. The article is to get u to think about being prepared and not to become the victim. Simply put if u are prepared for something, even slightly, you can survive from gaining the recources needed mentally and physically. IE: If u need water to survive and you have the ability to boil it you have the tools to get what you need!! whether it plays out in your mind that way, that is what the article says to me when i read it…something bad CAN turn into something good!!
August 1st, 2011 at 12:03 amFirst of all… vaccines in general are junk science. These days they are all more likely to put your immune system in a tailspin rather than prevent any illness.
Secondly… as a prepper, it is advisable to stockpile common medicines… antibiotic creams, bandages, antiseptics, cold and flu remedies, and other things.
August 1st, 2011 at 2:10 amThe things I reach for in the event of a cold or flu include: olive leaf extract and echinacea (caps or gelcaps), oregano oil gelcaps, zinc and selenium, holy basil, sambucol, a herbal cough suppressant/expectorant, and various medicinal teas. You can find most of this fairly inexpensively on the Swansonvitamins.com website… and by all means, check for specials!
The message I got out of this article was that when things get bad, being able to survive the initial onslaught will get you through to better days. And in ways that may surprise you.
August 1st, 2011 at 8:14 amI consistently refuse all vaccines offered by my Dr. We even fight about it occasionally. I’d rather take the chance and have my body fight it off, than take a cocktail of who knows what all called “vaccine”. And I am immunocompromised! Why? In part, due to vaccines.
August 1st, 2011 at 9:35 amI read the original BBC report last week.
While The Ready Store’s discussion is good to alert their customer base of scientific “progress” in viruses, my initial discernment and reaction from the original BBC report was Shock and Horror.
Scientists are working towards a Universal Vaccine–a one shot vaccination to prevent sickness and an outbreak of viruses within that viral family.
While most research and develoment scientists are of good intentions to help mankind, it is a government entity that would abuse a gift of an effective universal vaccine that could truly result in the horror of genocide, or worse–The Walking Dead.
They did it before (including to my own people in The Tuskegee Study), so why wouldn’t they do it again?
This time maybe against Christians during this religous war started by Muslims; against people they deem as so-called homophobic in this Spiritual War against Abominations Against God, or; against an entire nation of people in contiguous freedom loving states that is considered as disposable because they are a threat to antiChrist forces in A New World Order.
Thank you, Ready Store, for your long-term dedication in making available survival products to us, the common men and women who are determined to NOT go quietly into the night.
Blessings.
August 1st, 2011 at 9:37 amSteer clear of vaccines.
August 1st, 2011 at 10:01 amI think I will take my chances since I have only had the flu once in my life and that was when I was about 11 yrs old. My husband had the Swine flu back in the 70′s and I never took it. Hopefully I am immune to it. I would certainly be very careful in taking some of these vaccines. After so many “liberals” have said they are for “population control”. Some have thought vaccines may be the way they are going to carry this out. So, think before you leap.
August 1st, 2011 at 10:56 amI know I had the flu REALLY bad for 3 weeks each time…3 years in a row back in high school…that was over 25 years ago. I NEVER got the flu again after that. I’m not sure if I haven’t gotten the flu because of those 3 times getting it and building an immunity but maybe it had something to do with it.
August 1st, 2011 at 11:19 amI absolutely believe in preparing. Have all you need as far as meds, foods, etc..so you don’t have to leave the house if you are sick and you have what you need. That is only common sense.
This happened after the 1918 flu also. Survivors were completely immune to later flu pandemics many decades later, leading to speculation that they had a super-immunity to flu.
August 2nd, 2011 at 2:17 pmI received my first flu shot when I was 18 y/o. I was sick on and off from this shot, for several months. It acted as the flu. I have never had a flu shot since and I am now 66 y/o. I may have had the flu since this first flu shot, but if I did, i survived! No more shots for me…
