What does JIMMER have to do with Emergency Prep?

For anyone that’s followed college basketball this last year you have no doubt experienced the phenomenon known as THE JIMMER. The poster boy for college basketball has gone from a practically unknown player last November to the player of the year and has even been told by school officials to stop coming to class. This year has most certainly been a coming out party for Jimmer Fredette.
Now follow me on this, I don’t know if there’s a direct correlation or if it’s simple coincidence. It’s possible that there may be a conspiracy somewhere here.
The Emergency Preparedness / Food Storage Industry has also had a coming out party of sorts over the last 6 months. An industry that was arguably a fringe industry with few believers (relatively speaking) back in November has moved to the fore front of most peoples minds. You want March Madness? I’ll give you March Madness, try and buy a #10 can of Mountain House Lasagna from anyone including Mountain House themselves. Demand is so high that if you were to attempt to make this purchase today you can expect a delivery date of 3-4 months at the earliest, luckily here at The Ready Store we have a great alternative in freeze-dried Entrees with our Saratoga Farms line and it is going to continue to grow.
The demand for JIMMER and Emergency Supplies has literally followed an identical course of popularity. Now some will argue that hyper-inflation, a spike in gas prices, earthquakes and tsunamis are the more obvious reasons for the increase in demand for emergency supplies. Call me crazy but I on the other hand am convinced that there’s a direct correlation between JIMMER’s popularity and the demand for long term food storage.
In fact the following picture confirms my suspicions and I’m left to wonder, is anyone else this excited about getting their emergency food supply?
A word of caution, don’t get JIMMERED by the next unexpected disaster.

To the Ready Store:
Sorry, but I missed out on the story of JIMMER. Usually we are too busy living our lives and working hard to worry about filling out our “Final Four” bracket (more of a baseball guy myself). Unfortunately, there are SOME people in high elective office that are more concerned with their bracket picks than staying busy in THEIR jobs!!! Perhaps that adds to the uncertainty we see propelling this new interest in food storage?!!
Just this past week, I heard on ABC Radio’s “top of the hour” five minute news break, a mention of a business somewhere in California that went from 2 to 6 employees since Japan’s earthquake a month ago, and they still can’t keep up with orders. Their business? Selling emergency preparation supplies!!! Does that sound familiar to anyone?
Back to JIMMER, from looking at the photo above, one would have to conclude that he is probably a nice guy, and he certainly knows how to eat well!

We have probably tripled in the past couple months, though we have much more than 6 employees! The surge in demand has been, as your aforementioned bracket filler often says, “unprecedented”. It hasn’t helped that one of our key suppliers is sending us a tiny fraction of the amount of product we would order in a time like this.
I can’t spill the beans just yet but we have some exciting news to announce in the coming days that our customers will be very excited to hear.

April 10th, 2011 at 5:25 pmBasketball is boring, you Americans are missing out by not getting on the futbol bandwagon though I do find american football to be entertaining.
Anyways, does the Ready Store ship overseas?
April 14th, 2011 at 2:36 pmi suggest that the increase in demand for emergency food is directly related to Glenn Beck’s push over the last few years to make people aware of the need to be prepared by investing in food storage.
April 18th, 2011 at 3:18 am@Aiden: It says right on the home page that they will ship to Europe.
