"Good size for house of 2 adults, 1 tiny dog and 1 med size dog. You need at least two. Make sure you place them where you are going to store them. Water weighs approximately 8lbs per gallon. 30gal X 8lbs = 240lbs. They are not stackable and not intended to be. The filling openings are of two sizes threads. Course and fine national barrel threads. Place a piece of ½” plywood under them to keep them off the foundation material. Suggest spraying the gasket before sealing with “LEM” food grade silicone spray to ensure a good seal without gasket crinkles. Use a bung tool to tighten. Hand tight will not do it. Would be nice if there was model designed to be stored on its side and you could add a spigot for storage and usage purposes. Looked for a while but found a good hand pump with barrel threads that fits. Tested and worked good. A siphon is too slow."

"Walmart sells a 55 gallon (almost double capacity) for only $40 or so. That's double the volume, 2/3 the price. Same blue plastic, same two screw in white plastic caps. Only bigger and cheaper. At the self reliance expo, prices for all sizes were about $1 per gallon, only with better valves/plumbed systems. Keep looking!

"Good size for my place"

"I had one of those beastly 55 gallon drums in the past and I considered getting another one at a local store, but I found this one and it has worked great. I have had it in my garage for about 6 months and it doesn't take up quite as much space as the other. Plus I think 30 gallons of water is pretty good for my husband and I for at least a few weeks."
