I got these from The Ready Store based not only on price, but also on shipping charges. The Ready Store has their policy of combining shipping and they have a low shipping charge that far outshines any of their competitors. Identical items from other places would have run $50-70 more on shipping alone! Great job, The Ready Store!

In trying to find the best "deal," I checked out the 55-gal container at WalMart that was supposed to cost "around $40" and what I found was a 55-gal rain barrel that looks very similar. However, it costs $119.99 and isn't even BPA free. I'm just starting out in emergency preparedness and haven't actually purchashed anything yet, but I'm pretty sure the ReadyStore will be getting my money!

Your going to need a garden hose or something to fill this up because you need to fill it wherever you are going to store it. I'd rather have 6 little 5 gallon containers that I can move around and fill with clean water, not from the hose.

This is the perfect addition to our water storage because the 250 gallon tanks can only go so many places, but these can fit into the areas that it can't. I also bought the 12x5 gallon containers for portability purposes. Long term, tight fit, and portability give us pretty good water storage.

Great price on these, especially if considering they offer free shipping on orders over $100. It makes sense anyways to get a few of these. Because they are dark in color, they actual keep water longer by not allowing bacteria/algae to grow as fast. You will need a syphon with these barrels though to get the water back out.

Good size for house of 2 adults, 1 tiny dog and 1 med size dog. You need at least two. Make sure you place them where you are going to store them. Water weighs approximately 8lbs per gallon. 30gal X 8lbs = 240lbs. They are not stackable and not intended to be. The filling openings are of two sizes threads. Course and fine national barrel threads. Place a piece of ½” plywood under them to keep them off the foundation material. Suggest spraying the gasket before sealing with “LEM” food grade silicone spray to ensure a good seal without gasket crinkles. Use a bung tool to tighten. Hand tight will not do it. Would be nice if there was model designed to be stored on its side and you could add a spigot for storage and usage purposes. Looked for a while but found a good hand pump with barrel threads that fits. Tested and worked good. A siphon is too slow.

Walmart sells a 55 gallon (almost double capacity) for only $40 or so. That's double the volume, 2/3 the price. Same blue plastic, same two screw in white plastic caps. Only bigger and cheaper. At the self reliance expo, prices for all sizes were about $1 per gallon, only with better valves/plumbed systems. Keep looking!

*From The Ready Store: For some water containers, local retailers have extremely good prices because they don't have to incur the cost of delivery to customers across the nation on these large, bulky, and heavy items. Unfortunately, many people do not have local retailers that carry these items, but they are made available across the country through TheReadyStore.com. Also keep in mind our low-price guarantee where we will price match ANY online retailer's prices. Benefits & Description

60 Days Drinking Water | BPA Free | Water Won't Freeze

High-grade plastic container
This 30 gallon water barrel is made from 100% non-toxic food grade plastic and is BPA-free - a chemical long-suspected of being particularly damaging to fetuses, infants, and children. 60 days of water storage
The 30-gallon container holds up to a 60 day water supply for one person! (1/2 gallon per person per day) Convenient water storage
Special O-ring seal permits outdoor storage even in freezing temperatures. All your water storage goals in one
Utilizing one large barrel rather than several small jugs minimizes clutter and frees up much needed floor space for other emergency supplies! When it comes to extreme situations water is the most important element for survival. Even if you're well prepared in every other aspect, if you don't have any way to get access to water in an emergency, you could run into serious problems. We want to help keep your family safe during an emergency. That’s why we only carry the best products to make certain our customers are both secure and satisfied. The Ready Store is keeping you prepared with this 30 gallon water barrel.

Your body loses on average 2.5 liters of water everyday (or 2/3 of a gallon), but can handle only a loss of about 10-22% of its water weight (which can happen at around 3 days with no water) before it becomes fatal.

Secure your family’s health by obtaining a fresh water supply now for emergencies like earthquakes, violent storms, or contaminated public water supplies with this 30 gallon water tank. Because it is made from food-grade plastic, your water will store safely for years. All barrels come with O-ring seal and can be safely stored outside even in freezing temperatures, but be sure to allow for expansion space if storing below freezing. Don’t forget to add a Bung Wrench, Water Preserver, and Siphon Pump for more convenient use!
